the loft reveal!!!

After many months, the loft is finally finished!!! My vision for this spaced has changed many times, but I couldn't be happier with how it all turned out! I honestly think that it has become our favorite new space in the house by far.  The whole feel of the room is super cozy and comfy.  Whether it's early in the morning and I am using it to have my quiet time reading the Bible and sipping on some cocoa, or if it's late at night and I am snuggled up reading a book while the hubs is gaming, it's the perfect room!!  I am so excited to finally be sharing it with you guys, hope you love it as much as we do!!

Here's the view from the upstairs hallway!! I loooove that we decided to get 4 bookshelves, it's the perfect look!

Our adorable love seat from Ikea! Perfect size and style for us.

My corkboard now looks so in place! I still am so in love with this revamp.  You can see the whole thing in THIS post! :)

Here are some closes up of our bookshelves.  It's a perfect mesh of the two of us! We each have 2 whole shelves to fill with our stuff.  It seriously cracks me up how different we are!

Can you tell who's shelves are whose?! I had to get close ups of my favorite books! Tom & Gisele of course made it and I love Rachel Ashwell's Shabby Chic Interiors, so much drool worthy stuff in there!

All that's left now is adding some paint to the walls, but that's seriously the biggest project we have to do.  Because of our big open ceilings we are going to do one big mass paint job instead of small spaces at a time.  I can't wait for that, but it's lower on the project list.  Our next big to-do is finish up our 2nd bathroom upstairs.  I will definitely be blogging about that as we get started, but that won't be till later this summer/early fall.

So I can't wait to hear what you think!! I hope you love it as much as we do!!

A Mini Revamp

Tonight I was suddenly inspired to bring out my inner re-vamper, and I just had to work on a mini project!!!  I had a frame sitting around that I had re-painted a while back, but hadn't really done much with it.  It was a 5x7 frame and I really don't have too many pictures in that size.  I'm one of those people who take a million pictures all the time, but am horrible about actually getting prints made.  Lame...I know.

I had painted a silver frame that was cute, but not my style in coloring.  I painted it delicious heirloom white a while back, and as I was cleaning my closet tonight I came across some extra corkboard that I had left over from my corkboard re-vamp.  I cut a small piece of the corkboard liner, the same size as the glass that comes in the frame.

Since the cork I bought is made for drawer lining, it has a self-adhesive backing which is amazing!! (Seriously you gotta try this stuff!!) I applied it directly to the back of the frame.  Since it's self-adhesive it's super easy to remove if I ever want to use the frame for it's intended purpose.

After that I put it right back in the frame, and easy as that you have your own adorable mini-corkboard!!!

I wasn't really sure where I wanted use this little baby in my house.  After thinking for a while, I decided to use it in my kitchen to hold all my coupons that I get/print on my off week of grocery shopping.  I always seem to misplace them when I actually go grocery shopping, and this way I can keep track of them easily in a one stylish area! :)

Pretty darn cute huh? I'm in love and it was seriously one of the EASIEST projects I have ever done!  Gotta love that! :)  Hope you are having an amazing week!

it feels good to be back revamping!!

So, it's been quite some time since I have gone thrifting, looking for something to take from fugly to fabulous, but I FINALLY got back to it today!!  All winter long, it was just too cold to be in the garage spray painting, and honestly I have been saving every extra penny towards things for me personally that I hadn't even thought of any DIY revamps.

A while back I posted about my love for corkboards, and that's where this project started.  We have been piecing together the furniture in my loft area and it's definitely becoming my new favorite room in the house.  I absolutely love my bookshelves (I plan on posting sometime about them! :) ) and we just recently got a new desk which made me want to revamp something into a gorgeous Ballard inspired corkboard.  Oh Ballard Designs, how I love browsing through you for much inspiration!! I came across this Ballard bullentin board and fell in love.  I love how big it is, and what I love about corkboards is that they are ever changing pieces of art. What I didn't love was the $499 price tag.  You gotta be kidding me?!  If I'm gonna spend that amount of money on something it's gonna be a Louis Vuitton, not a freaking corkboard!!

So with this inspiration in mind, I headed to my local thrift store in search of a large frame that I could transform into my dream corkboard...and that's where I met this baby.

Pretty..not so much, but what worked for me was the traditional style of the frame & the $14 price tag.  This frame doesn't look as big as it really is, but it's a biggie.  I had to manipulate it to fit inside my little compact car, but where there's a will, there's a way!!

I sanded it down and then pulled out my trusty Rustoleum Heirloom White spray paint, and because of the size of the frame I decided to pickup two cans.

I sprayed and sprayed that frame with two good coats and already my heart was so excited about how it was turning out!!

I didn't worry to paint too much over the ugly painting since I knew that I was going to be covering it over with cork.  I did make sure that about a 1/2 inch around it was covered pretty good in case the cork didn't go exactly to the trim of the frame.

For my cork, I just swung by my local Target and picked up the cork drawer liners.  What I loved about these is that they have a self-adhesive backing, so no gluing was required, and at $9 you can't beat that!

My husband was kind of enough to lend me a helping hand rolling out & measuring the cork, and well as holding it straight while I trimmed to size and applied to the frame.  It's definitely a job for two people since the roll does just that, rolls up!  After all that I ended up with this beauty!

Ta-da!! Isn't she beautiful?! Large and perfectly white wood like I love! Total cost for revamp, about $30! Take that Ballard Designs! :)   I decided to hang her above the desk in my loft to hold all different kinds of goodies.  Pictures, drawings, invitations, thank you notes, and so on and so forth.

I couldn't love it anymore and it was really that simple & that affordable!!!  I finished the whole project in a few hours and the transformation is great!!  Hope you all love it!!  :)

dreaming of corkboards

I haven't had a great DIY project in a while, and I am just itching to get back in the game and re-vamp something!!!  I have been dreaming of making a great new LARGE corkboard for over my brand new desk in my loft.  I absolutely love corkboards and I am going to be digging into a project here very shortly.

In the meantime, I have been admiring & being inspired by other great corkboard projects here in bloggyland and wanted to share some of them with you all so you can be inspired as well.

This great corkboard done by Rachelle over at Fingerprints on the Fridge is just AMAZING!!

Here are the rest of my inspiration pics, I am SO bad and don't save where I get them from.  I am really not trying to not give proper credit, I am just bad at collecting data!! :)

Ahh, complete corkboard bliss.  I can't wait to get working on this project!
